Snapes was engaged to support a large-scale commercial office fitout at 833 Collins Street in Docklands, Melbourne. The project covered more than 83,000 square metres across 13 levels and involved furniture, workstations, seating, lighting, appliances, and other FF&E sourced from multiple suppliers across Australia and overseas. The logistics programme included approximately 7,500 workstations, 7,500 office chairs, 936 loose furniture and lighting units, and 400 white goods.
The project required thousands of FF&E items from 27 suppliers to be collected, inspected, stored, staged, and delivered to the correct floor, zone, and final position while construction continued elsewhere in the building. Site access added further complexity, with the loading dock generally unavailable until after 5:00 pm and approximately 95% of deliveries occurring outside normal working hours. Strict underfloor loading restrictions also meant standard handling equipment could not be used for some heavy workstation components.
Snapes created an end-to-end logistics workflow connecting supplier collection, warehousing, quality control, staging, transport, and on-site installation. Products were consolidated at the Sunshine West warehouse, where quantities, labelling, documentation, packaging, and visible condition were checked before items were allocated to controlled storage locations. Deliveries were then staged by component type, floor, zone, and installation sequence. To manage the building’s floor-loading restrictions, Snapes designed purpose-built six-wheeled trolleys, while a temporary production-line method was introduced to streamline workstation assembly and final placement.
